About Me

I’m Tom Mecsas-Faxon, a therapist with over 30 years of experience helping people find steadiness in the middle of life’s storms. My work has been shaped by years in community mental health centers, where I’ve walked alongside people facing everything from anxiety and depression to the difficult transitions we all encounter—career changes, relationship shifts, loss, and the everyday pressures of modern life.

My Approach

  • There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. The methods I use — Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy — each offer unique tools that can help you move from feeling stuck to making meaningful changes.

  • Narrative Therapy helps you step back and see your life as a story — one you can edit, rewrite, and reimagine to reflect your values and strengths.

  • CBT focuses on identifying unhelpful thinking patterns and replacing them with thoughts that better serve your goals.

  • DBT builds skills for managing emotions, improving relationships, and tolerating distress — especially helpful if you feel overwhelmed or reactive.

  • Solution-Focused Therapy is about identifying what’s already working in your life and finding ways to expand on those successes.

  • By combining these approaches, therapy becomes both reflective and action-oriented. We work to understand the deeper “why” of what’s going on and give you practical skills to handle the “what now.” The result is often a clearer sense of direction and the confidence to make changes that last.
